Solar Subsidy Under Rooftop Solar Scheme

Up to 2 kW

Government provides subsidy support for small rooftop solar systems installed for residential homes.

2 kW – 3 kW

Consumers receive ₹18,000 per kW subsidy for systems above 2 kW up to 3 kW capacity.

Above 3 kW

Solar systems above 3 kW are eligible for a maximum subsidy of ₹78,000.

Important: Subsidy under the PM Surya Ghar Scheme is available across India, and additional state subsidies may also apply.

How to Apply for Rooftop Solar Scheme

Step 1

Register on the official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in using your electricity consumer number and mobile number.

Step 2

Login and apply for rooftop solar installation. Wait for feasibility approval from your DISCOM.

Step 3

Install the solar plant through a registered vendor and submit installation details.

Step 4

DISCOM will inspect and commission the system. Provide bank details for subsidy transfer.

Step 5

The subsidy amount will be credited to your bank account within 30 days.

Solar Financing Options

The government also supports solar adoption through low-interest loans. Eligible consumers can get loans up to ₹2 lakh with interest rates starting around 7%, making solar installation affordable for households.
