Solar Subsidy Scheme in India 2024-26

Go green and eliminate your electricity bills! Under the Government of India's PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, homeowners can now avail massive subsidies to make solar energy affordable and accessible.

Major Update: The Central Government has increased the subsidy cap. Residential households can now get a fixed subsidy of ₹78,000 for systems of 3kW and above, covering nearly 40% of the installation cost.

Understanding the Subsidy Structure

The subsidy is provided as Central Financial Assistance (CFA) and is credited directly to the applicant's bank account after successful installation and inspection. Here is the current breakdown:

  • 1kW Solar System: ₹30,000 direct subsidy.
  • 2kW Solar System: ₹60,000 direct subsidy.
  • 3kW to 10kW Systems: Fixed subsidy of ₹78,000.

State-wise Incentives & Benefits

While the Central Subsidy remains uniform, various states offer additional perks, faster net-metering approvals, and local tax benefits.

Delhi

The Delhi Solar Policy 2024 offers a Generation Based Incentive (GBI) of up to ₹3/unit, allowing you to earn money for the energy you produce.

Uttar Pradesh

UPNEDA provides an additional state subsidy of up to ₹30,000 for residential consumers, making it one of the most solar-friendly states in India.

Haryana

Managed by HAREDA, the state offers a streamlined online portal for quick feasibility approvals and special incentives for solar water pumps.

Maharashtra

MSEDCL has simplified the net-metering process. Consumers can save up to 90% on monthly bills while contributing to the state's green grid.
